Saint Sophia’s Byzantine Ball is our annual fall dinner and dance that offers our parishioners, friends and supporters the opportunity to enjoy an evening of revelry. Previously held at the Omni Shoreham in D.C., the Ritz Carlton in McLean and the Hilton in Bethesda, this seated dinner offers attendees a way to enjoy fellowship, while showing their support for the Saint Sophia community. Music is always an integral part of the Ball and a mix of traditional Greek and modern American melodies draws attendees into dancing. Raffles and silent auctions also have been enjoyed as local businesses have graciously shown their support by donating wonderful prizes including trips, dinners, fine jewelry and art for bidders to snap up.
The Byzantine Ball is coordinated entirely by Saint Sophia volunteers who welcome help in making this activity a success. The Byzantine Ball volunteers also are grateful for the businesses that support the ball through underwriting of expenses, tax-deductible in-kind donations, and advertisements in the program book.
