Religious Education at Home: A Comprehensive Online Catechetical Website
of the Department of Religious Education
of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America
Dear Sunday School Teachers, Parents and Students
Dear Parishioners and Friends of Saint Sophia Cathedral,
Now that many of us have been asked to maintain physical and social distance, the Department of Religious Education of the Archdiocese is searching for ways to keep us all connected to our Orthodox Christian Faith and way of life.
Throughout the Archdiocese there are many liturgical services being streamed for us to attend “virtually.” I invite all of you to pray from home with us during our live-streamed services on Saint Sophia’s YouTube channel, especially on Sundays. Click here to access the Cathedral’s YouTube Channel.
Most noteworthy, however, is the creation of a comprehensive online catechetical website by the Department of Religious Education, called “Religious Education at Home,” (click here to access). The first installment provides activities, lessons, crafts, and discussion questions related to the Third Sunday of Great Lent.
As you can readily see, the religious education age groups covered include preschool, elementary, middle school, high school, family and adult. Truly, this initiative includes helpful resources for EVERYONE. I invite and encourage you, ever so emphatically, to please take advantage of this new resource. I guarantee all of you will derive great benefit from it, regardless of your age.
Furthermore, I strongly recommend you do not limit yourself to your “age category,” but explore ALL the offerings, even beginning with preschool. You may be surprised, indeed amazed, to discover things you never knew.
We at Saint Sophia Cathedral continue to vigorously explore other means to connect with you, and to identify additional resources to share with you. In the meantime, during this challenging time, I entreat you to remain steadfast in your faith and to maintain a regular spiritual routine as much as possible.
Be safe, be blessed, and know that you are all in my prayers.
To Him be the Glory!
With paternal love,
Father Steve
