ORDINATION TO THE DIACONATE OF NIKOLAS S. DELAVERIS, JANUARY 10, 2016:
This Sunday, January 10th, we will be visited by His Grace Bishop Andonios of Phasiane, Chancellor of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, accompanied by Deacon Panagiotis Papazafiropoulos, Director of the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministries for the Direct Archdiocesan District.
We invite you to come and receive the pastoral blessings of His Grace, Bishop Andonios, as we celebrate the ordination to the Holy Diaconate of Nikolas S. Delaveris.
An ordination is a most special and unique event in the life of a community. For many of us witnessing an ordination presents a once in a lifetime opportunity, an indelible experience. As such, you will not want to miss any part of it. While the primary actions of ordination to the Holy Diaconate occur within the context of the Divine Liturgy, specifically, after the Great Entrance and consecration of the Gifts, the candidate is first made a sub-deacon, and this occurs from the very beginning of Orthros (8:30 AM). And so, PLEASE COME EARLY!
Mr. Delaveris holds a BA (2008) in Jazz Studies from Michigan State University, a Master of Divinity (2015) from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, and a Certificate of Completion (2015) from the Addictions Counselor Education Program, University of Massachusetts (Boston). Nikolas possesses an extensive record of youth ministry service to the Archdiocese, including GOYA, OCF, Camp Nazareth, Camp Saint Paul and Ionian Village, and is currently employed as a Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) by Green Door, Washington, DC.
His wife, Katherine Anastasia, is a candidate for the Master of Science in Biohazardous Threat Agents & Emerging Infectious Diseases from the Biomedical Graduate School of Georgetown University. Nikolas and Katherine live in Washington, DC.
